Egale Canada: Hear Our Story

Hear Our Story was a national communications campaign that engaged LGBTQ youth across Canada through storytelling, and underscored the importance of a unified national voice for LGBTQ rights.

Community Participation

Hear Our Story highlighted the struggle of LGBTQ individuals in a social media-based mini-doc series. We eventually turned the mic to Canadians, and asked the public to submit their own stories for an opportunity to be featured in a series finale.

National Media Coverage

The campaign resulted in significant media attention across the country, including: Breakfast Television Toronto, CBC News, Daily Xtra, The Gandor Beacon, and The Western Star.

Global Reach

Chelsea Noel from Corner Brook, Newfoundland was featured in the powerful series finale. By the end of the campaign #HearOurStory generated approximately 5 million impressions on digital platforms across North America.

In June, 2015 Marketing Magazine awarded the #HearOurStory campaign a bronze medal in the category of Public Service Branded Content.
